I was born in Miami, Florida to a hard-working, dedicated Cuban woman.
I am a feminist, student, stepmother, activist, historian, course developer, worker, knitter, dreamer, girlfriend, lover, daughter, sister, grandchild, niece, INTJ, leo, dragon, animal lover, beach lover, urbanite, ecclectic, and a witch. I am many things, but first and foremost I am a woman, y soy latina, in one of the most diverse cities in the United States.
The topics I get most heated with are reproductive justice, violence against women, LGBT rights, women’s rights, and racism.
I have very strong opinions about feminism and the way women are treated in general. There’s a lot of thing that I see wrong with this world and with how women are treated that I would like to see changed. I would like to contribute to this change, and I would like to put my loud Cuban mouth to some good use. I was born with a voice-and a loud one according to my mother-I may as well use it to create social change and stir up some kind of discourse to the problems facing women of different races, ethnicities, religions, class, regions, and every other type of woman out there. This will be my platform to do just that.
I love to see things from all different perspectives, even from the anti-feminist perspective because -in my opinion- it keeps me balanced. Everyone in some sense has a reason why they claim to pertain to a particular viewpoint and I think in hearing all different sides of an argument you can come to an understanding that may not have been there before, so please interact, comment, let me know what you think and through this discussion and debate we can learn a lot from each other, just no hate and no trolls. At the end of the day this is still my blog, I am still the administrator of it, and I will delete bullshit comments.
