Va. Catholic bishop sorry after abortion mixup – 07/01/2008 – MiamiHerald.comI’m glad this happened. I’m glad there was a “mix up” and this girl was able to have the procedure. I don’t agree with the bishop apologizing for it because this was the girls call not his, and the charitable workers who helped her should be applauded not reprimanded. It is strange that the article tells this story entirely from the bishop’s point of view, and from his organization’s. No attempt is made to help the reader understand what the circumstances of the girl might have been. This could, of course, be to protect her identity since she is a minor, yet it does not help readers empathize much with the young woman. Sort of patriarchal of them to leave her perspective out entirely…
